LIGHT SPORT AIRCRAFT INSPECTION, SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE

Overview

Pat owned and operated a Piper PA-28-180C for six years before replacing it with a Cessna 182RG II which he owned for ten years. He performed preventative maintenance and assisted with annual inspections on both aircraft. After selling his 182 RG in late 2019, he conducted extensive research before concluding Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) best suited his future flying requirements. Following yet more research and demo flights in LSA aircraft candidates, Pat decided on the Van’s Aircraft RV-12iS Special-LSA (S-LSA) and placed his order in early 2021. During the 15-month wait for his new RV-12iS (due to supply chain disruptions caused by COVID-19), he quickly discovered what many owners and operators fly LSA and EAB experience … Local A&P mechanics tend to not be interested in maintaining a LSA. As a new LSA convert, Pat saw an opportunity to not only solve his needs, but also help others in the Southern Colorado LSA community. Accordingly, he enthusiastically set out to obtain his FAA Repairman (LSA) Certificate with a Maintenance Rating. He subsequently completed Rainbow Aviation’s Airplane, Glider, Powered Parachute and Weight-Shift-Control maintenance courses taught by legends in the LSA community, Brian and Carole Carpenter. Today, Pat leads his start-up company, Mach 2 Plus (M2P), LLC, as his company seeks to provide top-notch LSA inspection, service and maintenance. Pat is also eagerly looking forward to implementation of MOSAIC, and the expanded affordable flying and maintenance opportunities it will enable. Mach 2 Plus, LLC operates out of Meadow Lake airport (KFLY), Peyton, CO about 14- miles Northeast of Colorado Springs, CO airport (KCOS).
